Description

Black leather photographic album with gold lettering. Cover shows embossed word "Photographs" in upper left. Pages are black paper. Photographs are adhered to both sides of most pages with some left blank. Album contains 87 black-and-white photographic prints. Most photographic prints are 3 x 4.5 inches. Several photographs appear to be black-and-white postcards, based on writing printed on the verso.

Photographs depict landscape images of lakes, waterfalls, mountains, streams, and wooded roads, several in winter. Some photographs are of homes, camps, farms, hayfields, and farm animals. Two photographs show the interior of a home with furniture and a fireplace. There are a small number of portraits of people including children playing musical instruments. Two photographs show large boats and their names Goodridge and Songo; possibly the steam ships that operated in Naples, Maine.

There are six photographs of people gathered in a town center, some include people in military uniforms and possibly nurse's uniforms, many American flags, and decorated automobiles. Several pictures include images of a monument dedicated to the soldiers of the American Civil War in the town square of Wilton, Maine.

Images of mill buildings, possibly the G.H. Bass & Company mill located on Canal Street in Wilton, are also shown. A small label inside the back cover of the album shows the manufacturer of the album with the words "Ward's Album for unmounted photographs."
