GUSN-269068
Large carte de visite album, with spaces for two per page. Also included are two tintypes. Those dated are from the 1890s, but some may be earlier. In the front is a written note: "Sophia (Tileston) Brown's album, came to Edith Crehore 1896 in death of Harriet L. Brown. Contains pictures of the friends and pupils of 'Aunty' Brown and her daughters Harriet Louisa, Ellen Sophia." A further inscription reads, "E.C. filled it up with family pictures of Minns, Tileston side of the house." Family names here are Robbins, Fearing, Coolidge, Thayer, Thacher, Davidson and Brown. Most of these are identified. J.W. Black, the Boston photographer is represented. There are also some carte de visite copies of paintings; some of these are unusually small at 1.5" x 2.25". They are published by E.A. Cleaveland and Cleaveland & Grimes of Boston.
