GUSN-269008
Large carte de visite album holding two photos per page, with many empty spaces. This album is notable for its humorous photos. There are two cartes de visite of pet dogs, one sitting up on a pedestal. A series of two photographs shows a woman first in a gruesome mask, and then unmasked. There is also a carte de visite from a painting of two children playing checkers with their grandfather who is dozing. The caption reads, "Now Grandpa!" Families represented are Austin, Phillips and Endicott. There is also a photograph of Princess Dagmar of Denmark, later known as Empress Maria Feodorovna of Russia. Boston photographers represented are Allen & Horton, Clifford & Shapleigh, and J.W. Black.
