This album consists primarily of 4.5 x 2.5 inch amateur snapshots of buildings on Beacon Hill and in the Back Bay. The photographs date from the late 1920s to the 1930s. The album is from the manuscript collection of John Codman (1898-1989) and may have been compiled by him or by his father, William Coombs Codman (1860-1938), both of whom were members of the firm Wm. C. Codman and Son, Realtors and Insurance Brokers. It is possible that the album is a photographic record of some of the firm's transactions. Negatives exist for most of the snapshots in the album.
