Bound album of approximately 100 platinum-toned prints, exposed by Henry Peabody, circa 1900. All are views taken in Washington, D.C. and vicinity, including a panorama of the east front of the U. S. Capitol; other government building, with some architectural details; significant paintings in the Washington, D.C. areas; street scenes; views of Arlington, Virginia and Mt. Vernon. The photographic quality is highly professional. It is curious that none of the photographs bear the usual imprint of the Detroit Publishing Company of the copyright information associated with much of Peabody's work after the turn of the century. It is possible that this series was produced independently of his affiliation with the Detroit Publishing Company which occurred around 1900.
