GUSN-268439
This is a large and very ornate album. The cover has a raised illustration of William Tell surrounded by blue plush. The album contains cabinet photos, generally measuring approximately 4" x 5". There are also some tintypes and cartes de visite in the back of the album.
These are mostly in excellent condition, probably due to their burnished surfaces (burnishing as a method of finishing photographs came into use in the 1880s). They are probably family pictures and many are identified. Some interesting ones are: a portrait of a boy with long curls in a little Lord Fauntleroy suit; a carte de visite of "The Flume" in Fanconia Notch, New Hampshire; and a cabinet photo of a dog with the caption "dear old Jack Rollins of 88 North Street, Cambridge, in the 1890s."
