Description

One photograph album containing approximately 175 black-and-white photographs of a young woman named Miss Smith and her unidentified family and friends at various locations in Vermont and throughout the Northeast. A manuscript calling card for "Miss Smith" is found on the first page of the album. Photographs depict individuals vacationing at the beach and the coast, picnicking, posing in various locations, such as in nature, in towns, and in front of houses, playing tennis, wading in the river, walking in fields and woods, and more. The album serves as an example of middle-class life during the early twentieth century, particularly in relation to leisure activites and the outfits worn while undertaking these activities. The album is dated circa 1905. The album contains 98 pages, 47 of which are blank.
