Description

Photo album titled: "Woodwork and Carvings 87." Title is hand printed on a round paper label affixed to spine; volume number is also handprinted on a rectangular paper label affixed to spine. Album has a heavy textured dark brown covering and is held together with two metal brads. Album has 134 olive green pages; 36 of the pages are blank. Album contains 105 mounted and five loose black-and-white photographs. Photographs are of interior woodwork and carvings manufactured by A. H. Davenport Co., Irving and Casson, and their successor, Irving and Casson - A. H. Davenport Co. Types of woodwork include: panelling, columns, fireplace surrounds, moldings, and bas-relief carvings. Order numbers, model numbers and years are occasionally noted on the photograph. Customer names are also provided in some cases. Named customers include: Matilda Dodge Wilson and John Wilson, Meadow Brook Hall (Rochester, MI) and The Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research (New York, NY). The notations "Swann residence" and "Mr. Tanner" are also present. Digital images of a selection of photographs from the album are attached to this record.
