Photo album titled: "Empire Chairs: Arm Chairs, Georgian 11." Title is hand printed in black on front cover; title, subtitle, and volume number are hand printed in black on spine. Album has a beige fabric covering and 66 dark gray pages, all of which are now loose. Sixteen of the pages are blank. Album contains 50 mounted black-and-white photographs. Photographs are of a variety of side and arm chairs manufactured by A. H. Davenport Co., Irving and Casson, and their successor, Irving and Casson - A. H. Davenport Co. The styles of the chairs are described by the compiler of the album as including Empire and Georgian; however, other styles such as Colonial Revival and Chippendale are also included. Eight of the photographs may depict furniture manufactured by another firm. The order number and year are often shown on a display in the photographs; model numbers are also provided in some cases. Customer names are handwritten on some album pages; other customer names can be determined by crossreferencing journals and other albums in the collection. Known customers are: Frank E. Anderson (Houston, TX); Mrs. Harold Brown (Newport, RI); Second Congregational Church (Beverly, MA); F. H. Stuart (Newton, MA); and F. W. Woolworth (Glen Cove, NY). One photograph on page 37 has the handwritten notation "President Taft Chair March 17, 1912." Digital images of a selection of photographs from the album are attached to this record.
