Harriet E. Fairbrother Burrough and her brother, Jesse May Fairbrother
Written on the reverse: "This Gentleman was for many years an extensive Manufactuer and dealer in Leather, Belting, etc. He was President of the Slater Bank - Senator in the State Legislature - a prominent member of the FIrst Baptist Church and for many years a leading and substantial Citizen of the town of his birth [North Providence, R.I.]."
Both of Lewis Fairbrother's sons, Henry and Jesse, would follow him into the leather belt industry.
