This series contains tintypes with very little to no paint. Plates range from about 4x6 inches to gem size, although most are bon-tons. Some tintypes are in embossed or printed sleeves. Three sleeves identify photographers. Two are women: Mrs. Catherine A. N. Smith, a photographer and artist in New York City (PC068-205) and A. L. Smith (PC068-203). The third is W. P. Bacon, a Boston-based photographer who removed to upstate New York (PC068-189). There is one hidden mother portrait (PC068-188) which is related to two images in Series VII (PC068-293 and PC068-294).
