This series contain images that are framed or were framed by the donor. One is no longer framed (PC068-548), another is separated from its frame (PC068-527). Not all frames or mounts are original to the tintypes. Frame unoriginality is noted in some, but possibly not all, framed tintypes. There are three trademark tintypes, all Electrographs (PC068-519, PC068-547, PC068-550). There are also two portraits with identified subjects, child Ethel C. Fraser (PC068-530) and Barbara Ross Eaton (PC068-541), and one frame with an identified maker, Geo. S. Bryant & Co. of Boston (PC068-528). The degree of overpainting, outlining, and etching varies greatly in this series. Two tintypes (PC068-507 and PC068-553) contain little coloring. There is also evidence of folk art influence of tintype portraiture (PC068-526, PC068-527). At least one portrait features people of color (PC068-553), although it is possible that a few of these unidentified individuals belonged to minority populations.
