Description

This series contains tintype portraits of unidentified individuals with powder tinting, gold painted jewelry and accessories, and white and black lines. Some of the tintypes may be copies of other photographs. Two tintypes (PC068-96 and PC068-97) feature the same image but are overpainted differently. A few tintypes have a solarized appearance. Others appear underexposed with a dark, metallic look, possibly due to chemical treatment beyond the wet-plate collodion process. Many of these contain semi-legible words scratched into the corner of the tintype, most likely identifying the portrait subjects (PC068-92, PC068-97, PC068-99, PC068-107, PC068-108, PC068-109).
