The image shows a painting of a rural scene featuring the Billings House in Sharon, Massachusetts. The main structure is a large, multi-story house with several windows and chimneys, situated to the right. To the left, there is a barn with a path leading between the two buildings. People are depicted near the path, and there are chickens visible in the foreground. Various trees and open land surround the buildings.
"House of Samuel Billings and his son Sanford Water Billings. Mr. C. B. Capen's mother, a Billings, was born in this house. The barn still stands, (1921). But the house was burned down well before 1875. A white house was then built on the site, facing the barn, and this new house still stands, 1921."
