Description

Series XXXIV, Other Pierce family papers, 1678-c. 1976, undated (#4.9-4.34, 4.36-4.48, 5.1-5.10, OB.x.x-OB.x.x) contain items that are not associated with or cannot be attributed to a particular member of the family. Items range in date from the seventeenth to the twentieth centuries. The largest portion of this collection consists of nineteenth and early twentieth century newspaper clippings, newspapers, and other printed matter. The newspaper clippings, brochures, pamphlets, and prints contain mainly stories or information on historic sites and buildings. The entire collection is arranged into nine series, although apart from the printed matter, each of those series contains less than four items. These other diverse materials include an account of an estate sale, a deed from 1678, the Orderly Book of Capt. Stephen Tolman's Company from the War of 1812, genealogical notes, a plan for a sewer easement from 1926, photographs of two different Pierce houses, and a 1921 commemorative bronze medal from the Hartford Fire Insurance Company. The series is arranged into four subseries alphabetically by record type.
