Charles L. Cooney was the proprietor of C. L. Cooney Antiques, which operated from the basement of the Park Street Church in Boston, Massachusetts, until 1914. In 1914, operations moved to 379 Boylston Street in Boston. Cooney purchased Broadhearth, the house located on the site of Saugus Iron Works, from Wallace Nutting (1861-1941) in 1920. The property was sold by Cooneys estate in 1925 to antiques dealer Philip Rosenberg (1878-1951).
