Historical/Biographical Note

Edwin Martin is a photographer based in Bangor, Maine. He was born in 1943, and educated at Florida State University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Indiana University. In the mid-1980s, he worked as a news photographer before serving as Curator of Photography at the North Carolina State University Visual Arts Center from 1990-1993. He served as the photo editor for the Newark Star-Ledger from 1999-2000 and also held faculty appointments at Rutgers University, North Carolina State University, Indiana University, and the University of Maine. He owns Lumiere Photographic Studios in Bangor, Maine.
