Description

Bead decorated small purse closed by a gold-colored hinged metal clasp at top. Each side of the purse is covered by clear and opaque gold and blue glass beads sewn to a plain-woven cotton backing. The design formed is a clear ground with dotted blue abstract flowers with a gold bead center. The top edge of the purse (near the clasp) is echoed by a triple line of blue beads. The base is rounded and decorated by a blue six-petaled flower that ends in a beaded tassel suspended from the base. On one side of the purse is the date "1834" in beads. On the other are the initials "MEC."
