Travelers explored the architectural and cultural heritage of Stockholm, Sweden. From Renaissance and 18th-century royal palaces to 20th and 21st-century contemporary designs, they were immersed in Stockholm’s rich history. Travelers also enjoyed private visits and exclusive after-hour tours of magnificent icons and hidden gems. They explored Drottningholm Palace on the island of Lovön; the modern Stockholm Public Library, designed by Gunnar Asplund, a contemporary of Walter Gropius; the Vasa, Sweden’s 1628 royal flagship and an amazing restoration story; plus much more!
Travelers immersed themselves in Milan’s fascinating industrial heritage and discovered the city’s breathtaking cultural future. Some of the trip highlights included a look at the Fabbrica del Vapore, renovated by the city of Milan in 2008; Mudec opened as a city museum in 2015 after being transformed by David Chipperfield, the 2023 recipient of the Pritzker Architecture Prize; and two private initiatives, one by fashion icon Miuccia Prada and designed by Rem Koolhaas in 2015 in a former distillery, and the HangarBicocca, purchased by Pirelli in 2004 and opened in 2012.
Travelers experienced an exciting opportunity to explore modern architectural design with west coast experts and curators. From private homes to bold, post-modern landmarks, they were treated to a behind-the-scenes perspective on iconic buildings and legendary architects including Frank Lloyd Wright, Paul R. Williams, Frank Gehry, and Renzo Piano.
Travelers enjoyed a luxury stay at Borthwick Castle just outside of Edinburgh, combined with a stay in Glasgow, a dynamic city of architecture and culture.
