The Wallace Nutting Photographic Collection contains approximately 450 of his hand-tinted works and original photographs. Nutting staged scenes of domestic life set in the colonial period of New England's history. A number of these images are purely scenic in nature, including localities in New England, England, Ireland, Wales, and Italy.

A well-known antiquarian, author, producer of reproduction furniture, and proprietor of a chain of historic houses, Wallace Nutting also specialized in the sale of hand-tinted photographs depicting the New England scene as it might have existed in the eighteenth century.
