The image shows the rear exterior of a building belonging to the Standard Tire and Rubber Co. at 104-106 Portland Street, Boston, Massachusetts. The brick wall is visibly damaged, with cracks extending from the upper window area. A lower window has broken glass and scaffolding is present in front of the building. This damage is a result of an explosion from a gas-fired steam vulcanizer.
