Abel Bowen (1790-1850) was a New York-born engraver, lithographer, publisher, and antiquarian who relocated to Boston, Mass., at the beginning of the 19th century. Bowen would go on to become a leading engraver in Boston, as well as an instructor and mentor to many of the city's future engravers. Bowen was also involved in the founding of the Boston Bewick Company in 1834.
