From the front page of the newspaper:
"To our Patrons.
We will give to our readers as we progress through steamboat life everything that can be obtained connected with the different periods of steamboat enterprise, such as relates to the different lines established upon navigable rivers, both home and abroad, also the year or season when steamboats was introduced in the different ports for the first time; also upon all navigable rivers, as well as the first trip made upon such, and with what spirit they were received upon the occasion. In fact it will be our aim to make the Steamboat paper both interesting and instructive. We will be prepared to receive from any who feel interested upon this subject, such information as would assist us in making our sheet that what it should be. We pursue this course in order to bring out public sentiment upon the steamboat question, and never will we feel satisfied until we see a suitable monument erected in honor to him, to whom honor is due, viz. "John Fitch.". "
It is unclear if further volumes were issued.
