Description

Design drawing titled "Mahogany Commode" rendered in pencil on trace and mounted on cardboard. Perspective view is shown. Serpentine commode or chest has overhanging top with canted corners and molded edge; case with three drawers with bail handles and key hole escutcheons; shaped skirt with central carved scroll in front; and curved legs with carved acanthus leaves at top and terminating in scroll feet. Title, dimensions and "35976" are handprinted in pencil. Stamped in lower left corner is: "Irving and Casson / A. H. Davenport Co. / Boston - New York."
