Subseries A, Art, games, and other activities, ca.1880-1935, undated (#C.1.1-C.1.9), contains Anna's personal sketchbooks of pencil sketches and watercolors; rulebooks, scorecards, and strategy notes for card games (including Auction Bridge, Contract Bridge, and Patience); notes on playing other games and a completed 1935 newsprint crossword puzzle (#C.1.4); several 1912 issues of Monthly Evening Sky Maps magazine containing articles on astronomy and sky charts; a 1906 publication of Bird Lore magazine with a set of Yankey Bird-Name Cards; and resource material on art, architecture, literature, travel, etc. Also included in the subseries are two 1914 story puzzles (#C.1.6): "Bit Fishy" and "Worldly Witch" (Guessing Stories series published by Volland and Company, Chicago, Illinois).
The subseries is arranged alphabetically by topic, then by sub-topic (if applicable), and thereunder chronologically.
