we wish you a very Happy Christmas (Season's greetings on cover)
194 Bel Mar Ave/Westlake/San Francisco 25/Cal (Address of sender)
Dear Mr. Gropius/As a result of our wanderings across the/country, Fern and I have decided to entrench/ourselves in San Francisco; and so far there/are many things which impress us favorably/here. On our arrival, I worked for Wurster,/Bernardi and Emmons, which was very pleasant./However, since much of their business has/been residential, they were hard hit by/government restrictions on materials, and they/were forced to trim down their staff to a/fraction of what it was a few months ago. I/was fortunate enough to obtain a position with/Skidmore, Owings and Merrill where I am very/pleased with the congenial atmosphere and the/fine quality of the work I have seen so far./I want you to know how much I enjoyed and benefited from my contacts with you this past/year. Especially I wish to thank you for the excellent letter of recommendation which you wrote for me last spring./Fren and I hope that 1952 will bring much happiness to you./Sincerely, (Letter to Walter Gropius)
