Inspired by nineteenth-century science fiction and fantasy, steampunk is a contemporary take on the steam powered technology and aesthetics of the Victorian era.
Historic New England is excited to host our first-ever steampunk faire, the Compass Rose Steampunk Festival, on the grounds of beautiful Roseland Cottage in Woodstock, Connecticut.

Frenchy and the Punk
Frenchy and the Punk is an alternative cabaret folk duo based in the Hudson Valley region of New York. “Frenchy” is Samantha Stephenson, a French-born singer/percussionist and “the Punk” is Scott Helland, a guitarist whose music career started in the 1980s Western Massachusetts punk scene. Frenchy and the Punk’s stage presence and connection to the audience are both invigorating and engaging, exuding a genuine joie de vivre. Their show is a barrage of spirited revelry with lively multicultural genre-bending songs sung in both French and English accompanied by live looping guitar and percussion. At times, the show includes a segment of all-drum instrumentals a la Blue Man Group meets Rio de Janeiro. They have been touring around the United States since 2005 as well as in Europe at various festivals and Steampunk events. Visit www.frenchyandthepunk.com.
