Victorian Christmas at the Eustis Estate

Explore the beautiful 1878 mansion with its huge Christmas tree, bright lights, garlands, mantelpieces adorned with holiday decorations inspired by nature, and floral arrangements by local garden clubs. Bring the whole family for daily drop-in crafts and treasure hunts.

The Eustis Estate is located at 1424 Canton Avenue in Milton, Massachusetts. The house is open from Thursdays to Sundays, November 29 through January 5, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Regular admission is $15. Make Your Own Evergreen Wreath

Casey Farm, 2325 Boston Neck Road, Saunderstown, R.I.

Learn how to make an evergreen wreath from scratch at this workshop led by a master gardener in the barn at Casey Farm. Then, using natural materials, decorate another wreath to take home or give as a present. Casey Farm will supply hot cider, seasonal goodies, and all craft materials; you bring your holiday cheer and creativity.

Christmas Tea at the Eustis Estate

Celebrate the season with a Victorian afternoon tea at the Eustis Estate. Relax in the beautifully decorated hall and enjoy tea sandwiches, scones, and other treats, including an optional champagne toast. Your ticket includes admission to the museum and the special exhibition galleries. Advance tickets required.

Holiday Craft Night

Tuesday, December 3, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Drawing on the traditions of the Scandinavian servants of the estate, you’ll create and decorate your own nisse winter sprite figure. Get an exclusive after-hours look at the beautifully decorated 1878 mansion and then enjoy wine and snacks in the historic kitchen. Advance tickets required.

Home for the Holidays

Celebrate the season during South Berwick’s Home for the Holidays event with an open house at Sarah Orne Jewett House Museum and Visitor Center. Experience the wonder of yuletide with caroling, hot cider, and  a holiday story reading. Take a first-floor tour of the Sarah Orne Jewett House Museum, decorated for the season.


Christmas at Nickels-Sortwell House

Nickels-Sortwell House, 121 Main Street (Route 1), Wiscasset, Maine

Go back in time to Christmas 1919 and the beginning of the Roaring Twenties. The first floor of Nickels-Sortwell House will be decked out in floral designs by the Garden Club of Wiscasset and designer Laura L. Tibbetts, with a special tribute to the one hundredth anniversary of women’s suffrage. Enjoy hot cider and other treats in the kitchen. Stop by the barn for this year’s holiday sale, featuring a curated collection of craft and artisan creations, holiday greens, and gifts for gardeners. A portion of all sales helps Historic New England preserve Nickels-Sortwell House for the public.

Little Women Victorian Holiday Fair

See where scenes from the newest screen adaptation of Little Women were filmed and enjoy Victorian craft-making activities, holiday treats, and a visit from Santa. Fun for the entire family includes making your own Victorian holiday cards, tree decorations, and other period amusements. Advance tickets recommended.

Christmas Cheers at the Eustis Estate

Merry Historic Milton: Progressive Tasting Tour

Join this third annual exclusive progressive tasting event through three historic mansions in Milton: the Eustis Estate, Wakefield Estate, and Forbes House Museum. Each house will be decorated for the holidays drawing inspiration from the traditions of New England. The tour begins at the Eustis Estate with appetizers, champagne, and festive live music. Next, enjoy a cozy fireside stop at the Wakefield Estate for the main course, then on to the Forbes House Museum for a nightcap and dessert accompanied by live music. Advance tickets required.

Holly Jolly Sing-Along and Lantern Parade

Join us for an enchanting family-friendly holiday lantern stroll and joyous Christmas carols at the Eustis Estate. Decorate a lantern with your own designs, then join a parade around the property. Christmas Centerpiece Workshop

Create your own festive, beautiful, and very fresh centerpiece for your holiday table, using fresh-cut greens, berries, and flowers. Santa in Salem

Take a photo with Santa and see the elegant Chestnut Street mansion from a pint-sized perspective. Before or after meeting Santa, join us for cookies, cider, and a drop-in Christmas craft workshop. Historic New England staff will show you how to make your own paper angels, wrapping paper, and pop-up cards, and help you write a letter to Santa.
