As part of our assessments of the property, we determined that the trees at the Winslow Crocker House in Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts, were in need of some attention. These trees have thrived in the Cape Cod climate, but unfortunately their limbs were growing over many of the buildings. With four roofs being replaced this fall at the site, the trees prohibited access for the roofers. Using certified arborists, the trees have been carefully and safely pruned. Over the next several months, a comprehensive three-to-five-year plan of additional maintenance pruning will be developed. This type of planning allows Historic New England to proactively manage our landscapes and protect our buildings and visitors.
Please consider supporting our preservation efforts at the historic properties through the Preservation Maintenance Fund.
