Recovering New England’s Voices Scholars Social Takeover

Aug 5, 2022

Historic New England’s Recovering New England’s Voices scholars are taking over our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram platforms this August to share some of what they have recovered during the first year of this comprehensive initiative to challenge standard accounts of the past and unearth stories that have long been neglected or suppressed.

In September 2021, our year-one Recovering New England’s Voices scholars Hannah Francis, Leo Lovemore, Scot McFarlane, and Tricia Peone joined Historic New England’s Study Center staff to scour archives, libraries, and other less familiar sources across the region. The culmination of their twelve months of dedicated work is a databank of regional information and detailed historic site-specific reports that are being used to develop fuller, more inclusive tours and public programs, and will be the foundation for the continuing work of our year-two scholars who join Historic New England next month.
