Historic New England President and CEO Carl R. Nold recently traveled to San Diego, California, for the American Association of Museums (AAM) board meeting. Because San Diego Zoo Global hosted the meeting, Carl had the opportunity to meet the world’s fastest land mammal, a cheetah. In the picture at right, the cheetah is distracted by the off-camera “bloodcicle” that is used to coax it to pose with humans.
Comprising twenty thousand museum and individual members across the United States and around the world, the AAM represents all types of museums, including botanical gardens, zoos, aquaria, and planetariums. Carl has served on its board of directors since 2003, including as chairman from 2009 to 2010, and now as Immediate Past Chairman through May 2012.
