Introducing our new staff member in Vermont

Feb 16, 2016

Historic New England is pleased to introduce Charlotte Barrett, our new Community Preservation Manager, Western New England. Her office is located at the Henry Sheldon Museum of Vermont History in Middlebury, with whom Historic New England is partnering on a two-year alliance.

Charlotte graduated from the University of Vermont with an M.S. in historic preservation. She was formerly a director and consultant for the Preservation Education Institute in Windsor, Vermont, and a field representative for the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Charlotte is Historic New England’s first full-time staff person in the Green Mountain State.

“I’m excited about this opportunity to develop a presence for Historic New England in Vermont, as well as to serve as the alliance liaison with the Henry Sheldon Museum,” says Charlotte. “I couldn’t ask for a more perfect marriage of my background in historic preservation and museum studies. Having lived and worked in northern New England for thirty years, I have deep roots in and a passion for working with the communities of Vermont to preserve their past and share the stories that continue to inform the present. I’m eager to form partnerships with the many organizations already doing good work in Vermont.”
