Inside the Collections Care Project: Keep calm

Dec 3, 2014

As phase two of Historic New England’s Collections Care Project begins, we are preparing to photograph and update collections data for more than 21,000 objects.

We temporarily moved these objects in order to make necessary improvements to our collections storage facility.

Last month, twenty-one Historic New England staff members helped out with an important part of the Collections Care Project.

Over two days, three teams of volunteers gently washed and dried more than 3,000 pieces of ceramics, which are now ready to be photographed for inclusion on the Collections Access portal.

The Collections Care Project team made themselves visible to the volunteers by wearing their newly designed t-shirts, shown below:

You too can help preserve the collection by making a gift to the Collections and Conservation Fund.
