Inside the Collections Care Project: Halfway to our goal

Aug 30, 2014

Historic New England’s Collections Care Project involves moving more than 20,000 objects out of storage so that new compact shelving and environmental controls can be installed. This week, our staff hit the halfway mark toward our goal. More than 10,000 objects, mostly ceramics, glass, and sculpture, have been inventoried and moved to temporary storage within Historic New England’s Haverhill Facility.

Once all of the objects have been moved and construction begins, our team will clean, photograph, rehouse, and update catalogue records for each object.

Keep an eye on the Collections Access Project for additions to the database.

Stay tuned for next week’s fascinating find. Support the preservation of Historic New England’s one-of-a-kind collection with a gift to the Collections and Conservation Fund.
