Historic New England receives second delivery of Boston Marathon material

Aug 23, 2013

The memorial items come to the Haverhill Facility after Polygon, a global provider of property damage restoration services, has dried them out in its dehumidification chamber. Polygon then delivers boxes of memorial items including running shoes, American flags, hand-written signs and notes, hats, stuffed animals, and other items to Haverhill for the fumigation treatment.

Historic New England and Polygon are members of a region-wide group that includes the Mayor’s Office, City of Boston Archives, and the New England Museum Association that are participating in the effort to preserve, protect, and catalogue the objects from the makeshift memorial that was dismantled on June 25.

A video of this recent delivery was taped by the Boston Herald. Watch it on their website.
