The Edward F. Gerber Urban Preservation Fund supports the preservation of private historic homes in Connecticut. The fund allows Historic New England to provide critical support to historic residential property owners in Connecticut’s urban centers.

The Edward F. Gerber Urban Preservation Fund plays a key role in maintaining historic homes in Connecticut’s urban areas, benefiting both homeowners and their communities. Each year, the fund grants up to $10,000 to the owner-occupant of a residential property with up to four units, providing crucial support to homeowners in ten urban centers across the state. The eligible cities are Bridgeport, Hartford, Manchester, New Britain, New Haven, New London, Norwalk, Stamford, Waterbury, and West Haven.

More than twenty-five percent of Connecticut’s population live in these urban centers. By providing support to maintain private historic homes, the fund empowers urban homeowners to actively contribute to their community’s resilience and cultural connectivity.
