Staff in Historic New England’s Library and Archives are concluding a year-long project to improve public access to twenty-six collections of family papers associated with Historic New England’s historic properties. Finding aids to these papers will be accessible through the Collections Access Project at HistoricNewEngland.org beginning in September. These guides will help researchers identify archival materials that reveal details about nationally significant figures and events and the social, cultural, economic, agricultural, and literary history of New England.
This project was supported in part through grants from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission, the Bedford Family Foundation, and an anonymous foundation. The funds made it possible to hire Bridgette Woodall as the full-time project archivist and Alyssa Ramirez as part-time archives assistant. In addition, a group of dedicated Historic New England volunteers and interns from the Simmons Graduate School of Library and Information Science contributed many hours of work to bring the project to fruition.
Check back later this month when the new finding aids are available.
