Description

Design drawing with two views titled "Buffet of Satin Wood and Mahogany." Front view is rendered in pencil and watercolor; top view is in pencil only. Buffet with conforming top has a curved central section and concave curved sides. Central section has a long shallow drawer with two pulls; two large lower cabinet doors with rectangular veneer of contrasting satinwood. Drawers and side panels have also have contrasting satinwood veneer and either painted or inlaid Neoclassical decorative motifs including swags, bows, and oval cartouches. Buffet has four short fluted and tapered legs. Title and scale are handprinted in pencil. Embossed in lower left corner is: "Return to / A. H. / Davenport Co. / 96 Washington St. / Boston, Mass." Drawing is affixed to board and stamped in the lower right corner of the cardboard is "393."
