Desk with mahogany veneers. Two cases; lower case with four drawers above French bracket feet; flip writing surface with two side pulls. Upper case has three doors concealing drawers and pigeon holes. Middle door has a label "Clark Morss / Cabinet Maker / Middle Street / Newburyport".
"This fine desk was for many years the property of Edgar A. Ban/croft of Chicago until his death in 1925 as Ambassador to Japan./It then became the property of his sister Antoinette B. Pierce."
