Description

A round ash splint basket (a) with ear-shaped loop handles, round base and cover (b). The body of the basket is woven from groups of alternating thick and thin weavers. The center weaver is swabbed blue-green, while alternating thin weavers and spoke standards are swabbed with indigo. The loop handles are attached vertically in the center of the body, one at each side. The lid is thin "wicker" weave, with blue-green and indigo swabbed spokes and weavers. The rim of the basket body is splint exterior and carved wood interior, held in place with a single ash splint lash.
