The form of a swimming black duck of natural coloration and realistically painted, with glass eyes and incised bill. The head is carved separately from the body. A Mason Decoy from Detroit, MI, Challenger grade.

Inscription

A typed label on the bottom reads: This decoy (Black Duck) was/used in their Squantum, Mass./blind by Uncle Frank and Harry/Hartley, and Mr. Strater about 1907. It is probably a ""Challenger""/model, given to me by Francis/Hartley, May, 1975. Branded twice on the bottom is: STRATER .
