Description

Piece of linen mounted on two modern wallboards painted on the face with closely spaced decorative motifs. The background is black, and the chief design color is iron red. The basic forms of the various designs appear to be stenciled, with highlights and touches in freehand in white. Other secondary colors are yellow and green. Closely spaced repeat patterns, with swags and dependent netting and tassels which form a border 12 1/2" from the top. At the top, on the second right side, is a narrow red band, that may indicate an original edge. The canvas is hand-stitched up the center at 21" width. At the top are old nail holes in canvas (later filled in) at about 2" apart. [This obviously a section of the original piece.]
