Description

Half of a rectangular, vertical format portrait of a young man, with a dark blue coat with puffed shoulders and a yellow vest with gold painted buttons. Unframed - per donor there was no sign of it ever having been framed.

Inscription

In pencil on the the very center of the board back is a series of mathematical calculations- addition. On a jelly label in the lower right board back, in script in blue ballpoint is: Washington Gordon/husband of Diantha (Atwood) Gordon of Salem, N.H. or her brother? Attrib. to A. Ellis. Carved into the knot of the figure's scarf are these letters: WNW . NFL also notes a presence of a pencil inscription at the left: ""Tidings I bring to you..."", but the present cataloger does not see it.
