Renaissance Revival-style settle has large canted rectangular upper back panel; deep lower back rail with two recessed rectangular panels painted green and flanked by carved double scroll plaques on each side; black painted turned spindle in center between lower back rail panels; wide rectangular stiles with carved double twist pattern and large carved rocaille finials; straight rectangular rear legs extending from stiles; flat rectangular arms; flat plank seat; front seat rail with foliate carved plaque at center; black painted turned spindle extending from arm to seat and to base; square front arm supports and legs with foliate carved rectangular blocks at seat; and trestle style base.Side chair has back with very large carved scrolls framing a rectangular panel; shoe with concave sides and fluted base; shaped flat seat; and four tapered legs splayed at an extreme angle.
