Description

Black-and-white photographs of one arm chair and two different side chairs. Chippendale-style arm chair has shaped crest with carved scrolled ears and central foliate motif; pierced splat with Gothic tracery pattern; molded stiles; curved arms with scrolled handholds and curved arm supports; upholstered slip seat; raked rear legs; straight square front legs; and straight rear and H-stretchers. One Chippendale-style slat-back side chair has curved pierced crest rail with carved scrolls, center carved shell, and carved volutes at ends; two conforming slats; shaped stiles; seat with over-the-rail upholstery and single row of metal tacks along bottom edge; square legs; and front and rear stretchers.The other Chippendale-style side chair has curved crest rail with carved foliage and volutes; rounded ears; pierced vasiform splat with scrolled cut-out ears; gadrooned molding on shoe; rectangular seat with over-the-rail upholstery and single row of metal tacks alond lower edge; Marlborough legs with rear legs slightly raked; and straight rear and H-stretchers. Handwritten notes on page include: wood type and A. H. Davenport Co. detail numbers "575," "7971," and "757."
