Description

This hanging wall pocket is constructed from three different printed wool textiles. The front pouch rectangle was gathered across the top edge, then stitched along the sides and down the center to a longer rectangle of similar width, forming three "pouches" of the pocket. A third textile forms the verso side. The edges are all finished with a green bias tape. Across the top edge of the back are stitched three small brass rings to suspend the pocket [far right fourth ring missing]. The "pouch" textile depicts a Renaissance hunt scene with archers and game on a red ground. The taller front rectangle is a botanical print on a red ground. The verso textile depicts framed vignettes of young children in a glade. There are four adhesive labels affixed to the verso [see Inscriptions].
