One of many views of the early United States highlighted in the online exhibit "Patriotic America."The building was the new South Unitarian Church designed by Bulfinch and dedicated in 1814. It stood on the green between Summer and Bedford streets on the site of the old church. Octagon Church as indicated by its name was an eight-sided granite building and the first section of its six-tiered steeple was also octagonal. The structure was torn down in 1868.
