Description

Untitled scrapbook. Scrapbook has red fabric cover and is held together by twine laced through six eyelets. The number "9" is handwritten on spine. Scrapbook contains 50 pages. The bulk of the materials are clippings from 19th century and 20th century periodicals, catalogs, and magazines, such as "Arts and Decoration," "House and Garden," "Country Life," and "The American Architect." The clippings depict a wide variety of clocks, pianos, organs, and lamps incluging grandmother clocks, grandfather clocks, dwarf grandfather clocks, banjo clocks, water clocks, candelabra, chandeliers, Checkering pianos, Steinway pianos, harpsichords, and organs. Most of the pieces are from the 15th through the 20th centuries and are from Europe, Russia, China, and the United States. There is a pencil sketch of piano (page 14) as well as a newspaper clipping of the gold piano in the White House (page 18). Pages 44 through 50 are stuck together at the top.
