Description

Design drawing titled "Hall Chair of Oak" rendered in ink on trace. Perspective view is shown. Renaissance Revival-style arm chair has tall back; deep crest rail with arched top and pierced carved motifs including cherub on horseback; deep middle back rail with pierced carved motifs including standing cherubs holding swags; bottom back rail with carved scrolls; straight molded stiles with carved foliate pattern above arms and on shaped finials; straight rectangular arms with curled handholds; flat rectangular seat with molded edge; narrow straight seat rails; fluted square legs; rectangular rear stretcher; side stretchers with curved lower edges; and deep front stretcher with carved scrolls and foliage. Title is handwritten on drawing. Stamped at the lower edge but partially cut off is "To be returned to / A. H. Davenport."







Title is handprinted on drawing. Stamped at lower right side but partially cut off is: "To be returned to / A. H. Davenport Co. / 299 Fifth Avenue / New York, NY."
