"Toilet Table of White Mahog."

Description

Design drawing titled "Toilet Table of White Mahog." rendered in pencil on trace. Front view of dressing table and attached mirror is shown; plan of top tier of drawers and cupboards is also provided. Neoclassical-style toilet or dressing table has semi-elliptical shape with curved back and two bowed side sections in front; overhanging top; two sets of two drawers with bail handles flanking a shallow center drawer; inlaid kylix, bellflowers and ribbon garlands on center drawers; inlaid quarter fans on corners of drawer fronts; and round legs wth cuffs and cylindrical brass feet. Table has tier of seven recessed drawers and cupboards arranged in a C-shape on top; drawer fronts have inlaid garlands, swags, baskets of flowerrs and wreaths. Shield-shaped mirror frame has molded rim and two curved supporting arms which terminate in foliate carved brackets atop upper tier of drawers. Title, design notes, "Made for J. J. Albright Esq. 31312"" and "11341" are handwritten on drawing.
